Meet Flowers by Karis

An Artist First, A Florist Always

Floral design is often described as a craft, but for me, it’s something more—it’s an art form. Every bouquet, centerpiece, and large-scale installation I create is a composition, a study in movement, color, and balance. My name is Karis, and I am the artist behind Flowers by Karis, a California-based floral design studio dedicated to creating one-of-a-kind floral experiences for unique weddings, destination events, and floral education.
My goal is always to highlight each stem and tell a story through seasonal flowers and botanical material. Whether it’s an intimate wedding in Santa Barbara, a grand floral installation in Carmel Valley, or a destination event in Italy, France, or Scotland, my designs are meant to feel painterly, expressive, and deeply connected to the natural world.

Floral Design for Those Who Love Art

I work with couples and clients who value artistry over tradition and want their florals to be something extraordinary—something that looks alive, organic, and effortless. My design philosophy is rooted in nature, seasonality, maximalism, and movement, creating arrangements that feel as if they’re still growing & shifting.
Each floral composition is built with an artist’s eye—blending unexpected color palettes, layering unique textures, and incorporating the most special seasonal and local blooms that I can source to create something that looks like it was pulled straight from a Renaissance painting. My clients often tell me, "I’ve never seen flowers like this before," and that’s exactly what I strive for.

High-End Floral Design with a Cinematic Touch

One thing that sets Flowers by Karis apart is that I don’t just create florals—I capture them. I photograph all my own work, using both digital and film photography, because flowers deserve to be documented as art. This means that when you book me for your wedding or event, you’re not only getting luxurious, artful florals—you’re also getting a florist who understands light, composition, and how to create a breathtaking visual story.

Destination Weddings & Events: California & Beyond

While I’m based in Central California, I travel frequently for destination weddings and floral installations. I design for weddings and events across Santa Barbara, Northern California, Napa, Carmel, and the entire California coast. But my passion for floral art doesn’t stop there—I love working in Europe, especially in France, Italy, Scotland, and England, where the architecture and landscapes lend themselves beautifully to romantic, old-world floral design.
For those planning a destination wedding, I specialize in working with international planners, sourcing seasonal blooms, and ensuring that every floral element is seamlessly designed and executed, no matter where in the world your wedding takes place.

Mentorship & Floral Education

Beyond designing for weddings and events, I am also deeply passionate about teaching and mentoring florists. My mentorship programs are built for designers who want to refine their skills, master color theory, learn how to create more intentional, refined compositions, and even discover how to photograph their own work. My main passion has always been to continue learning myself as I push my work further with each composition, and what better way to continue learning than to dig deeper into my own floral principles with you.
Many florists struggle with balancing multiple floral ingredients, creating designs that feel intentional rather than chaotic, or capturing their work in a way that does it justice. My goal as a mentor is to help florists move beyond uncertainty and into a place of confidence, control, and creative freedom.
I offer one-on-one floral design mentorships, workshops across the U.S., and am dreaming of expanding my teaching into Europe and Mexico very soon. If you’re a florist looking to elevate your craft, I’d love to help you grow.

Sustainable Floral Design with Thoughtful Sourcing

Sustainability is a core value within my design work and my business. I work primarily with seasonal, locally grown flowers, avoiding imported blooms whenever possible. I never EVER use floral foam—a single use microplastic that’s harmful to the environment. Instead, I design using sustainable techniques such as chicken wire, floral frogs, water tubes, and more that allow the flowers to breath while saving mother Earth.
Choosing flowers that are in season not only ensures the best quality blooms, but it also creates a more natural, organic feel to the overall design. Whether sourcing from small farms in California or selecting breathtaking tulips in Holland for my European events, my approach is always rooted in thoughtfulness and sustainability.
